Hip-Hop Show
One thing is for sure, THIS concert is still chugging along at full force. Be prepared for an evening of b-boying, DJs, MCs, and graffiti, all starting at 7:00 at the Key, this Saturday the 26th. Acts such as Individuo (Eman and Riahl), Hyperlink (Joe McG), Noo Chode and Optimus Rhymus (Andrew and James Wilson), Boogeyman feat. Young City (Chris Goodwin and Jon Clammer) and other special guests, along with the best Nfld has to offer: the Lost Boyz Crew tearing up some linoleum. Cost is $3. (Because of the recent canceling of the Beatles Cover Show, we are currently getting input from MCs about donating proceeds to the Plymouth Christian Youth Center)
Paul Johnson CD Release
We’re kicking off the beginning of a long series of summer concerts with a CD release concert from Paul Johnson (of Autophobia fame) from West Fargo. Paul will be playing at the Key starting on July 11th at 7:00pm, with a few of his good friends. Only $2 entry, and only $1 if you bring a canned good, and Paul’s CD ‘Sleepless’ will be sold. Chuckles and giggles will be plentiful, as will fanastic music by our good friend Paul Johnson.
And the Winner of the EC Battle of the Bands is…
FEEDBACK FENZY – be sure to catch them on the Key radio show this Saturday the 31st at 9:00am on KYMN (1080).

Cup O’ Joe at The Key
The Cup O’ Joe Show at The Key was Friday night and had a big turnout. Plenty of raffle tickets were purchased and many people bought bottomless cups of coffee and cocoa. No definite total on how much was raised for the skatepark, but I’ll post it as soon as its in. THIS JUST IN: The concert raised $312 for the skatepark. Pretty impressive considering tickets were only $3! The lineup was as follows:
Joe Strachan
Dylan “Joseph” McKinstry
James “Jo Jo” Wilson
Joe Dobrow
John “Jo” Baldwin
Gospel Gossip CD Release at the Key
Some of our favorite kids in Gospel Gossip are visiting the Key, and with them bringing gratuitous amounts of rock (as well as a fabulous new CD), and their good friends Baby Guts. Show is happening Dec 14th (Friday), at 6:30. Only $3 with the money going towards the Skatepark!
Eccentric Circus a Success
The Key’s annual Eccentric Circus raised around $700 and gathered about 150 youth and adults in the community together. A big shout out goes to Marie Fischer for organizing the event and to all the “Key Kids” who ran the event. Carleton College and the workers of the Cave (Ali, AJ, Charlie) must also be singled out and thanked for their support and kindness. For the many wonderful photos please click on Eccentric Circus photos. Or if you wish, you can view them as a sideshow.
The Key’s Annual Concert Fundraiser this Saturday
This Saturday on the 28th of April, the Northfield Union of Youth will host its annual concert fundraiser The Eccentric Circus at The Cave on Carleton Campus. This event will take place from 4:00pm until midnight and is $5 at the door. This year’s theme is Failed Superheroes, and those who dress up as one will receive a dollar off admission. Food and beverages will be sold at the event. This is an all-ages event.
Twelve local musical acts are slated for the lineup and include Sonicate, Meredith Fierke, Skittish, The Hormones, Captain Purple, The White Sisters, Scotty Barvir and the Blisters, Ryan Pellant, Johnny and the Moondogs, Dylan McKinstry, Siobhan Meehl, and Mike Anderson. The event will also include a poetry slam, a talent show, breakdancing, and an art display. Anyone from the community is welcome to attend this event and participate in the poetry slam and talent show.
The Cave of Carleton is located in the basement of Evans Hall, located on the north side of the building. Evans Hall is located at the corner of 1st Street and Maple by the cul de sac in the parking lot. Signs will be up to help direct people.
So tell one and tell all to come on down to The Cave this Saturday to support the longest running youth-run youth center in the country.
