Summer is nearing, and schedules are clearing. Movie Night is back, and in its triumphant wake, we will be watching Brad Neely’s “Wizard People, Dear Readers” which promises to be a night of laughs and “full of weirdo professors and goblin-faced women”. Be there, This Friday at 7:00 pm or you will be incinerated with any number of spells that I keep hidden, WAY up my sleeve.
The Sundaes on Mondays benefit for The Key was a financial success and an entertaining time. A big shout out goes to Northfield Chiropractic for providing the site and the ice cream free of charge. Skateboarders skated throughout the event and breakdancers held an impressive hour long demo. The Key raised about $200 at the event and will give part of this money to The Northfield Skateboard Coalition for being such great sports.
The Northfield Skateboard Coalition’s all-you-can-eat omelet breakfast at the American Legion was an enormous success. The Coalition worked extremely hard from 8:00am – 12:30pm helping set up, greet people, clean up, and many odds and ends. The Coalition, in collaboration with the wonderful folks at The American Legion Post 84, raised well over $1000 and made a lot of friends in the process. For photos of the event click here and for history of the Coalition click here. Also be sure to check out Griff Wigley’s photos on Locally Grown.

The Key’s annual Eccentric Circus raised around $700 and gathered about 150 youth and adults in the community together. A big shout out goes to Marie Fischer for organizing the event and to all the “Key Kids” who ran the event. Carleton College and the workers of the Cave (Ali, AJ, Charlie) must also be singled out and thanked for their support and kindness. For the many wonderful photos please click on Eccentric Circus photos. Or if you wish, you can view them as a sideshow.
The Skateboard Coalition met with The NDDC Monday May 1st at 8:00am in the Riverview Conference Room of the Archer House. A scattering of people showed up as Joe McGowan lead a presentation on the Skatepark Coalition’s successes, present situation, and future goals. Joe also encouraged those present to help out. Joe answered many tough questions involving the new proposed skatepark and was an excellent voice for the group.
