Scholarship Opportunity Available Through The Key
Check out this awesome opportunity for a post-secondary scholarship:
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide funds of up to $2000/year for a Northfield youth to be able to pursue post-secondary education. Renewable for up to 3 years (in addition to the initial year).
Criteria: Applicants must be seniors or graduates who meet the following:
-Face significant financial barriers in pursuing post-secondary education
-Have been actively involved in the Northfield Union of Youth (The Key)
-Have been accepted into a post-secondary program
-Have been involved – and intend to continue to be involved – in community service activities (grant recipients are expected to volunteer at least 40 hours over the course of the year in community service projects of their choosing)

On Tuesday, Nov. 16th, 2010, GiveMN.org is hosting Give to the Max Day. Any money donated to the Key during these 24 hours will be matched by GiveMn.org! That means any money you donate to the Key is really DOUBLE the amount. Here is a word from their website:

3. Click on one of two tabs: “Help the Key open a new door!” or “NORTHFIELD UNION OF YOUTH INC”. The first link is specifically for our capital campaign, which will help cover the cost, repairs, and remodeling of the new building (this is where we need the most help right now), and the second tab is for the organization in general.
4. Enter the amount you want to donate.

More Book Club Info
To all who have picked up your copy of The Chosen, and to all who have not but still want to participate: we will be reading Chapters 1-2 for Monday, Nov. 15th. Again, meet at the Key next Monday at 7:00pm for good discussion and delectable morsels (aka SNACKS).

BOOK CLUB
Book Club will be starting up at the Key on Monday, Nov. 15th shortly after 7pm. We will be reading The Chosen by Chaim Potok. Also, we have a legitimate St. Olaf student who will be helping us lead discussion! Please stop by the Key to pick up a book if you are interested in attending. There will be snacks!!!

The Kids of Sundance Kids are BACK
The cool peeps of Sundance Kids, a great Seattle band that played at the Key last summer, will be back in concert this TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th, 7pm at the NEW KEY. Bands Iji, Megabog, Dogbreath, and Best Friends Forever will be playing! Come check out some sweet tunes and a chance to hang out in the new space. $3 at the door….bring yourself, bring your friends!!
